Books build empathy by sharing stories that can be used for conversations about feelings and offer perspective taking.
Book-based Dramatic Play
- Using stuffed animals or other toys, role play a story your child knows well.
- Start with the story the way it is in the book, but then create new stories with your child. Introduce new characters. Add situations your child is dealing with into the story to role play through them.
- Make sure to encourage your child to act out the expressions associated with various emotions happening during your play time.
