This amazing non-fiction book shows how different creatures such as jewel beetles, hummingbirds, rainbow boas, and giant clams use the rainbow effects of iridescence to blend in and stand out. All rainbow and animal lovers will appreciate this one. Find it at the Library
Butterfly, Butterfly by Petr Horacek (Toddler, Preschool)
One day a little girl discovers all the different colors of creatures that live in her garden. Perhaps this will inspire you and your little ones to go on a color hunt of your own in your neighborhood. Find it at the Library
Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh (All Ages)
Learn about the different primary and secondary colors in this cute story about three little white mice escaping from their household cat. Find it at the Library
My Ocean is Blue by Darren Lebeuf (Preschool)
A girl and her mother spend the whole day at ‘their’ beach, which the young girl describes using colorful and expressive sensory language: the ocean is “slimy” and “sandy,” “sparkly” and “dull.” The water it “splashes and crashes and echoes and squawks.” And at day’s end, she can’t wait to come back again.
